Speech Analyzer is a handy tool that was designed in order to help you load WAV files and analyze them.

Key features of “Speech Analyzer“:

  • Perform fundamental frequency, spectrographic and spectral analysis, and duration measurements.
  • Add phonemic, orthographic, tone, and gloss transcriptions to phonetic transcriptions in an interlinear format.
  • Perform ethnomusicological analysis of music recordings.
  • Use slowed playback, repeat loops and overlays to assist with perception and mimicry of sounds for language learning.

Requirements:

  • Computer with Pentium (or equivalent) at 333 megahertz (MHz) or higher
  • 128 MB of RAM
  • 1024 by 768 pixels screen resolution (for laptops, use native display resolution)
  • Mouse or compatible pointing device
  • Windows Media Player
  • Internet Explorer 5.01 or later

New in Speech Analyzer:

  • Unicode support and support for Transcription Encoding Converters for data from previous versions.
  • MP3 and WMA support (read-only access).
  • Import and export MusicXML.

Improved in Speech Analyzer:

  • Formant processing.
  • Transcriptions are now stored in a file with a .saxml extension in the same folder as the audio file.
  • Help files and training materials have been improved and integrated with the program.
  • Experimental features have been removed to avoid presenting confusing or misleading data.

Fixed in Speech Analyzer:

  • Clicking the Formant Tracks button on the toolbar caused Speech Analyzer to stop responding.
  • The Raw plot line of the Spectrum graph was excessively smoothed.
